Enzymes
Ligases
What are they?
Ligases are responsible for the catalysis of ligation, joining of two substrates. A chemical potential energy is required, so the reaction is together with the hydrolysis of a disphosphate bond in a triphosphate.

DNA Ligases
The most important one is the DNA ligases. It catalysis the ligation between breaks in DNA by a bond. There are different forms of enzymes, and the catalyze different breaks. The DNA ligase can repairs single stranded breaks using complementary strand as a template.
